Get
to Know the Canon EOS 1000D
The first Canon EOS 1000D that was
introduced in 2003 was known as the first digital camera that was
actually affordable. This also gave Canon a top spot in the digital
camera market. Check out the review below of this Canon digital SLR
camera.
So, the Canon
EOS 1000D was the first
one which made digital SLR cameras affordable.
There have been more since the first; the Canon
EOS 450D for example, which provides many
features and terrific image quality, plus a good
price tag as well.
The Canon EOS 1000D has
similarities
to some of the previous Rebels, and it can be said to be either a
stripped down version of the 450D, or a better 400D.
The specifications are lower on this camera, but it is not as
detrimental to the overall
camera functionality as one might expect.
Some of the benefits found in the EOS 1000D:
- 10MP sensor
- 2.5 inch LCD monitor
- 7 point AF system and no spot metering with
live view with phase and contrast detect AF
- SD/SDHC for storage and an awesome control menu
that is a lot like the EOS 450D'S
The Canon EOS 1000D can shoot at 3FPS, but only for
JPEG images. This camera can shoot these images until the entire card
is full, unlike other models of this camera that could only go to 27.
The lens features are in the basic range with optical
stabilsation. Although there are some downgrades to some of
the features of the Canon
EOS 1000D as compared
to some other models, it has two very important things that people on a
budget are seeking.
These two important features are:
It has image stablisation, and Live View.
Along with the 10 mega pixel resolution, and Canon's famous reputation
for creating awesome cameras, it is headed for success.
The screen output on the Canon EOS 1000D is sometimes actually better
than the 450D XSi. The screen is also brighter and
has a wider angle for viewing. It is also the lightest of the DSLR from
Cannon to date. It also has a new battery and SD
memory.
The 10.1 mega pixel CMOS sensor performs
magnificently. It doesn't boast a flip out screen, but it does offer 100%
coverage, magnified manual focus assistance,
an Af option that is contrast based, and a live histogram
and alignment grid as well.
Using your computer and a USB cable, and supplied EOS utility
software, you can view the camera's live feed. Since Canon is
aware that if you are vying for an entry level digital SLR you really
like the
idea of image stabilisation and live view, some of the things that have
been downgraded really don't matter too much at all.
Also, the reduced number of AF points and sluggish continuous shooting
in RAW mode will probably not bother you either.
The performance of the Canon EOS 1000D was great, and the only people
that may be bothered by some of the features missing from this model,
will likely be real enthusiasts, but will have little impact otherwise.
Due to the fact that Canon has delivered a camera with all its ducks in
a row, it will certainly be a strong contender with
all of the other cameras out there, and once again be at the top of the
heap in terms of quality and price tag.
