Powershot A480 Review
Check out this Canon Powershot A480 review to
find out if this Canon Powershot digital camera is the right camera for
you!
Canon is one of the premium brands in the large competition of compact
digital cameras.
They have proven themselves by offering all kinds
of midrange to high-end digital cameras
for amateur and professional photographers.
Whether you want to simply point-and-click or use a camera for
(semi-)professional use, Canon will have something for you.
They have cameras that are for power users and a few cameras that are
stylish, elegant, durable, or a little bit of both.
The only problem is
that not all people are willing to spend for cameras that contain advanced
features that they might not understand or possibly
don't even need.
The Canon
Powershot A480 aims to be a fairly simple camera, still with
the most essential point-and-click-features. In addition there are a
few goodies, making this a great compact digital camera for beginner users.
Canon Powershot A480 Camera Design
The Canon Powershot A480 comes in four different colors to choose from
- Red, Blue, Silver, and Black.
It is a little bit smaller
than some of the midrange PowerShot cameras and has smooth
curved edges to give it that compact and trendy feel.
The mode dial is completely removed which could be good or bad for some
users and is replaced with dedicated buttons to control the zoom,
playback, and other features.
The screen size is quite small at 2.5 inches and there is no optical
viewfinder so live view is the only way to go when
taking pictures. The good news is that the small display has a built-in
Night Display for low light
usage.
Canon Powershot A480 Camera Features
Features of this camera are quite minimal design-wise.
However the Canon A480
brings some decent features to the table by incorporating the DIGIC
III Image Processor which is needed to keep the images
sharp and help recognize scenes better.
It also paves the way to some of the basic, yet essential technologies
such as Face Detection. This feature can track
multiple faces and apply exposed settings and color corrections to make
them stand out more and Motion Detection Technology
to eliminate blurred subjects in motion.
Using the ISO 1600 setting captures moments a lot better in low-light
instances. The Red-eye Correction
eliminates the tedious task to correct the red-eye problems of every
portrait since the camera automatically fixes it after it is taken.
Combined with the 10 megapixel sensor and 3.3x optical zoom, the Canon
A480 is versatile and powerful for beginners.
Canon Powershot A480 Extra Features
The Canon
Powershot A480 builds upon its predecessor - the A470 by adding
5 new shooting modes bumping up the total to 15 shooting modes with 12
of them as special scene modes.
Among these modes include the fun Super Macro mode
as well as some unique modes including Long Shutter, Aquarium, and Kids
& Pets.
It can also be powered by 2 AA batteries
for easy travelling with the unit. Three minute movies can also be
recorded at 640 x 480 at 30 fps.
The Canon Powershot A480 may not be very intuitive for people that have
used
digital cameras in the past, but it has the compact and stylish
features for people that are on a tight budget to enjoy.
The price and features alone make this a great first camera to get.
