PowerShot G10 Review
Don't buy the Canon PowerShot G10 until you have read this review! The
Canon Powershot G10 review gives you all the ins and outs of this
compact digital camera.
Canon PowerShot G10 upgraded from the G9, the Canon PowerShot G10
includes a change to a 14.7 mega pixel as well as a 28-140mm zoom and
better screen resolution.
The outward change is not as noticeable as other aspects of the camera.
This is the first G-series digital camera that offers the option of wide-angle
imaging.
FeaturesA 5x zoom with a state of the art image
stabilizer, the Canon
Powershot G10 is great for providing image quality without blurring.
If you love to get photos of landscapes or buildings, the telephoto
reach is perfect for this type of photography.
Wide angle with the highest quality is
possible using a 4-stop improvement.
With shots that were taken inside,
the problem of most digital compact cameras still exists.
Noise was present at ISO 400 and if still
life is taken using ISO 1600, this was
speckled quite extensively.
If you are looking for the best in control
via post-processing, the G10 has a mode -
RAW shooting - that allows
this as well as supporting professional software for professional
photographers.
Using improved calculation and algorithms
with the DIGIC 4 processor allows this
camera to get photos with two major advantages. The operation is quite
fast and great images with the very best color and clarity are two of
the best features. Resolution is 461k
dots and the LCD screen is a 3.0". The
G10 features fingertip access for the
basic settings that will be used most often.
This camera is designed for the amateur as well as professional
photographers. As a solution to the problem many digital camera
operators have with blurring and movement, the following technologies
have been integrated into the G10:* Motion Detection
Technology* Servo AF -
constantly adjusts the focus based on the movement of the subject being
photographed.
Auto ISO Shift Image Stabilizer
Close up shots are now more easily taken using the Macro
Ring Lite and the Macro Twin Lite.
When the use of a tripod is desired, the RS60-E3
remote switch allows for the ease of the shutter release.
A menu that
is dedicated to the print options for
direct access is another of the features included with the Canon
Powershot G10.
PictBridge support is still yet another option that allows users to
print to a printer that is PictBridge
compatible without using a PC. The one-touch printing
is supported by a print/share button and
the uploading to Mac or Windows is accomplished with ease.
Supporting 26 languages, the G10 is one of the great aspects of the
user interface. A 32MB memory card is supplied and the memory cards
that can be used with this camera also include the MMCplus
and the HC MMCplus.
The purchase of the G10 also includes software. Zoom
Browser EX 6.2 for Windows and Image
Browser 6.2 for Macintosh are included for editing and
organizing purposes.
This is a wonderful option for making digital photo albums. If
panoramic photos are an important aspect, the Photo
Stitch 3.1 for Windows and the Photo
Stitch 3.2 for Macintosh are also included.
This allows using multiple images to create the panoramic photos you
desire. At approximately $500 for the Canon PowerShot G10, barring the noise
problems all digital compact cameras seem to have, this is a good
camera that can take excellent pictures.
