Canon Powershot SD900 Review

With its stylish curve design in pure titanium, the Canon PowerShot SD900 is visually striking. But what's inside is just as impressive, a powerful 10 megapixel CCD, 3x optical zoom and newly developed DIGIC III Image Processor, Canons top-level functionality puts you at the forefront of digital photography technology.

With expanded low-light shooting capability, a built-in digital tele converter, and futuristic Face Detection technology for incredible group shots, the new Canon Powershot SD900 is at the forefront of compact digital photography.

The SD900 also features a 10 megapixel CCD sensor which ensures every picture will have excellent detail, even when printed as large photos.

The large 2.5 inch LCD screen means composing and reviewing images with the monitor is simple and effective.

This size LCD screen with 230,000 pixels, which is twice the resolution of its predecessor, it is quite easy to navigate through the menu and utilize the direct printing features also.

The Powershot SD900 has an ISO range up to 1600 for less blur in low light conditions. With the Image Stabilized lens, and exclusive DIGIC III Image Processor, images shot at higher ISO speeds are sharp, crisp and virtually free of digital noise, which can ruin great shots.

The use of the new DIGIC III processor includes the new face priority function for detecting human faces in a scene. This adjust settings automatically for better focus and exposure.

The Canon Powershot SD900 features two new ways to maximize digital zoom performance: Safety Zoom and Digital Teleconverter. With Safety Zoom enabled the lens will go beyond its optical limit while maintaining acceptable image quality; with lower resolutions additional digital zoom becomes available. The Digital Teleconverter emulates the use of a 1.4x and 2.3x teleconversion lens with impressive image quality. Please note the SD900 model is known as the Ixus 900 Ti in Europe.

  • 10 MP CCD captures detail for photo-quality 18 x 24-inch prints.

  • 3x optical zoom; 2.5-inch LCD display.

  • Sleek aesthetic titanium body curve design.

  • Touch-control dial for increased usability.

  • Stores images on SD Memory Cards.

  • Powered by Lithium-ion rechargeable battery NB-5L.

  • ISO range from 80-1600.

As also found in previous Digital Elph cameras, the SD900 utilizes a 3x optical zoom lens. This zoom range has proven to be a perfect combination of compact size and incredible usability.

Along with its great zoom range, the SD900 lens is equipped with two aspherical lens elements which ensure consistently high image quality results every time.

The Canon Powershot SD900 Review (also known as Ixus 900 in Europe) has shown this as the most impressive model in the Canon SD range to date.

A combination of user functionality, ergonomic design and leading edge technology make it a digital compact camera to be admired
