The Canon Powershot SX200 looks a bit larger
than some of the pocket sized compact digital cameras.
But this Canon Powershot digital camera has got some telephoto
functionality and high megapixel count that make it stand apart.
Check out this Canon SX200 review to find out all you need to know
about this digital camera.
One of the problems that landscape photographers face is the fact that
they have to lug around a large camera body just to get all of the high
quality shots in.
Taking a smaller point-and-shoot camera
isn't a good option not only because of the lower quality image
sensor, but the lack of zoom capabilities.
The Canon
SX200 may appear to be larger than some of the pocket sized
digital cameras available, but it manages to squeeze in some telephoto
functionality in a reasonably compact frame without sacrificing megapixel
count.
Camera Design
Several design enhancements were applied to the Canon SX200 and the end
result surprisingly distances it from its DSLR
relatives.
But that isn't really a bad thing, because it still has that nice curve
serving as the grip for easy handling and
the popup flash makes the camera look a
lot more powerful than the standard point-and-shoot
ones.
Although a viewfinder is absent, the LCD display
is much larger than older SX designs with
230,000 dots of resolution in the 3-inch
display. This forces all of the buttons to be placed on the right side
and the rotary wheel for mode selection
on top.
The shutter button is well positioned and circular for convenient
shots. It also comes in red and blue
designs in addition to the standard black.
Camera Features
Many improvements have also been made to the features themselves with
the presence of the modern DIGIC 4 Image Processor
topping it.
This processor emphasizes on Face Detection Technology
where better contrast adjustments are made automatically.
In addition to the existing automatic red-eye removal
technology, a new self-timer feature is added so that everyone can be
in the feature including the photographer.
Unlike other previous models, the Face Detection makes automatic
adjustments when the photographer is in the frame. Group shots are sure
to look their best with the new Blink Detection
feature that allows a quick re-take when
the indicator appears when once of the persons in the photo blinked.
Even when taking shots where people aren't evolved, the overall image
quality of the Canon
SX200 is much greater because of the iSAPS
technology that relies on white balance and exposure for a better
output.
The megapixel count is comfortable at
12.1 megapixels and the zoom gets some improvements as well now capable
of zooming up to 12x. Wide-angle
photography is also possible making it an ideal camera for
professionals.
Extra Features
Movie shooting has been greatly enhanced now supporting
HD capabilities with a built-in mini-HDMI
connector that allows connections to high definition
monitors and TVs.
Up to 720p resolution can be recorded at
30 frames per second.
The Canon SX200 is best at what it aims to do and it still has all of
the high marks that previous models had like all of the different shooting
modes that contribute to the photo quality.
The HD is a welcome addition for those
that do not wish to invest in a digital camcorder and the increased zoom
adds more possibilities to an already
excellent package.
