Canon Powershot SD700 Review
Get close and stay steady! Engineered with Canon's sophisticated Image Stabilizer technology, the SD700 IS Digital Elph gives you the "shake-free" performance that makes your pictures sharp and clear. No matter how close you zoom in, the SD700 IS Digital Elph keeps everything very stable.
This Camera model has a simple 'all you have to think about is your subject' approach to photography. Canons high performance technologies combined with a stylish appearance makes this digital compact really stand out. But there's more than meets the eye with the Canon Powershot SD700, its 4x optical zoom brings you in for intimate close-ups with great detail and the 6.0 Mega-pixel CCD sensor constantly produces images with impressive quality, and even allow suitable resolution for over-sized prints.
Canon Powershot SD700 review

The PowerShot SD700 IS Digital Elph features new ISO 800 and High ISO Auto settings that reduce the effects of camera shake and sharpen subjects in low-light situations, giving you greater flexibility for shooting. It also features Canon's DIGIC II Image Processor, which is designed to improve processing speed and image quality. DIGIC II certainly provides markedly faster startup, autofocus, and playback, plus it assures that every image is more colorfully vibrant. In addition, the Canon PowerShot SD700 IS Digital Elph includes a 16:9 widescreen resolution option, producing images and film clips that are suitable for your widescreen televisions & monitors.

Fast Frame Rate Movie Mode allows you to record extremely smooth, full-motion movie clips for up to one minute in QVGA at 60 frames per second (320 x 240 pixels). With a highly flexible movie mode, you can create the movie that's perfect for any application. Select from VGA (640 x 480 pixels) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) with frame rates of 30 fps and 15 fps for recording up to one hour or 1 GB. Plus, Compact Movie Mode records at 15 fps for up to 3 minutes.

The SD700 is quite possibly the most impressive model in the Powershot SD digital Elph series to date. The Canon Powershot SD700 has everything you could wish for in a digital compact and it's all packaged into a stylish and aesthetic body. Canon has decided to include its original iSAPS Technology into all of its new digital compact series, and the SD700 is certainly no exception.

Canon SD700 Presets Include:

  • Automatic - With this mode the camera chooses all the settings so you can concentrate fully on your subject/s.
  • Manual - In manual mode you have full control of the settings, you set ISO speed, exposure compensation and white balance.
  • Portrait mode - The camera sets a large aperture, focusing the subject and artistically blurring the background.
  • Landscape - Capture brilliant shots of autumn foliage, greenery shrubs, flowers or blossoms with this mode.
  • Snow - Shoot clear snow scenes without darkened subjects or an unatural bluish tint, deals with glare well.
  • Beach - Get clear shots of people at a sunny beach without darkened faces, as with snow, this mode limits the effects of glare.

If you're an enthusiast looking to upgrade your old digital compact model for something a little more advanced and exciting, we would definitely recommend taking a second look at this review and adding the Canon SD700 to your 'top choices' shortlist!
