EX-Z85 Review
This is the
Casio Exilim EX-Z85 Review. Make sure you find out all about this Casio
digital camera before you buy!
Casio is a brand that is normally seen on watches and calculators and
such.
They are definitely not a traditional digital camera maker.
However, with digital photography becoming so popular they have decided
to create some digital camera models themselves.
And I have to say, they do not disappoint.
Although Casio does not have anything to offer in the DSLR category,
Casio's EXILIM series is looking strong and offering models in four
categories.
The Casio
Exilim EX-Z85 is one of them and it falls in the "Zoom"
category
where optical zoom specs are more emphasized.
Casio Exilim EX-Z85: Camera Design
The Casio EX-Z85 isn't out to compete with the stylish designs.
It
does manage to come in many different and unique colors including 2
shades of pink, a yellow-green color, a light orange color, light blue,
as well as brown, black, and silver.
The front side doesn't include anything special, but the back side has
a nice layout of the buttons with the preview and photo buttons next to
each other and the familiar circle below.
Casio Exilim EX-Z85: Camera Features
The compact design features a powerful 9.1 megapixel CCD sensor
allowing some large photos to be taken.
The CCD specification lets
users edit or crop the photo and can then be set to print in a certain
format such as a poster without loss of quality.
The face detection feature not only improves the skin tone quality and
exposure of multiple faces, but it also tracks it ensuring that the
portraits never get blurry after the photo is taken and smile detection
is supported.
The Casio
EX-Z85
is powered by the EXILIM Engine 2.0 which is a set to save battery
life, provide high speed shooting, high resolution, compact
configuration, and good overall performance. Results are noticeable
after each shoot with the hues and dark areas improved.
Continuous shooting is another strong feature when the 2 megapixel mode
is used as up to 5 photos can be taken per second and the button can
stay pressed actively taking photos at that rate until the memory card
is full.
Several automated features are included as well including the Auto
Shutter function which gets the right photo even if hand shakes are in
the equation and it works with the Anti Blur Auto shutter which speaks
for itself. The Pan Auto Shutter is unique to the EXILIM models to get
very fast moving subjects where camera movement is necessary.
Advanced photographers can analyze the motion by pressing the button
half way to save the focus so the right shot can be taken immediately.
Finally, the Self Portrait Auto Shutter aids in taking self-portraits.
Casio Exilim EX-Z85: Extra Features
Some nifty extra features include the BEST SHOT-Button that can be
conveniently accessed in the back panel which acts as an automatic
scene selector whether images or movies are taken.
The DIRECT ON function is useful in instances where a shot is suddenly
needed as the camera can be ready after 1.4 seconds. Using the USB
Direct Print feature, the Casio Exilim EX-Z85 can be used to interact
with EPSON printers for
printing.
The flash and macro modes aren't very strong with the Casio models and
the EX-Z85 is no exception, but the overall quality is good and the
many automated features make this a good digital camera to get.
