Fujifilm
Finepix F200EXR Review
The Fujifilm Finepix F200EXR is not one of the cheaper compact digital cameras around.
The question then is whether this Fujifilm camera is worth its' price? Well, check out the review below and see for yourself!
Digital cameras have a price tag ranging from a simple $100 to prices
well over $400.
When cameras like the Fujifilm
Finepix F200EXR display such a high amount, but the
advertised specs
like the megapixel count and optical
zoom level make it similar to some of the cheaper
models, it makes you wonder.
A closer inspection is then required to understand some of the
overlooked features of the camera such as the image sensor being used
and how the output photos differ from
other models.
Camera Design
The Fujifilm F200EXR is a powerhouse in
disguise and doesn't come in a variety of colors like the other cameras
that aim to be stylish.
The overall design resembles a standard camera even when looked at from
the back as it has the typical navigational disc
and mode wheel for selecting the scene.
It also improves on the F100's weak spots which was the LCD
now measuring 3 inches.
Camera Features
While the megapixel count is similar to
some of the other Fujifilm cameras, the main highlight of the F200EXR
is the sensor called the Extreme Sensor Super CCD EXR.
It mixes together high resolution with high
sensitivity, wide dynamic range,
and low noise.
It is also designed to make pointing and shooting
much easier as it auto-detects the shooting mode based on the
conditions that it sees.
Pressing the shutter button half-way
activates this feature letting the sensor detect all of the optimal
settings. One clever feature is that when close-up shots
are taken, Macro mode is automatically
selected and any taken photos come out in full resolution.
Switching to lower-resolution modes add
to the flexibility and are mainly useful for taking very low light
shots. It is also good as a landscape camera with 5x optical zoom along
with the versatility of a wide angle and telephoto
(28-140mm).
In addition, the Fujifilm
Finepix F200EXR has all of the goodies found in the F100
including
the powerful Face Detection 3.0 feature where it not only captures up
to 10 faces, but it manages to do so at much faster
speeds even when they are all in motion.
Each face can be viewed and saved as a separate portrait
can all be used to form a slideshow. Red-eye
is totally absent after each shot.
Extra Features
The extra features are richer in this model including some unique shooting
modes in addition to the already powerful Standard (also
called PROVIA) mode.
The Vivid mode increases the sharpness and color tones while the Soft
mode smoothens out the tones. The Black & White
and Sepia modes make it a fun camera to take dramatic shots.
Additional possibilities are made for reviewing pictures as well.
Thanks to the large 3.0-inch large LCD, the micro thumbnail view can be
used to view 100 photos in a 10 by 10 grid. HDTV
owners can connect their camera to the display to see the high-res
images in full screen.
The Fujifilm F200EXR raises the bar in high-end
point-and-shoot cameras and the large list of features
make every dollar worth it. The F100 was already a complete package,
but the F200EXR has proven that more extras add to the value for both
enthusiasts and professionals.
