Coolpix S225 Review
The Nikon Coolpix S225 is one of the cameras
that tries to be smaller than the others, but still deliver good
results. Check out this Nikon Coolpix digital camera review.
Nikon is one of several heavy competitors in the digital
camera
industry and they are most known for their high-end DSLR
cameras that deliver the professional results that expert photographers
need.
Trimming all of those technologies found in those full-frame models
down to size is very difficult, but the Coolpix series
is showing huge signs of potential.
These compact digital cameras
become more advanced than ever capable of taking higher megapixel
photos and observing greater color accuracy.
The Nikon S225 is one of the cameras that try to be smaller
than the others, but still deliver good results.
Nikon Coolpix S225 Camera Design
The design of the Nikon S225 looks very similar to the S220 sold in
other areas.
The front layout isn't anything new, but the back end is very minimalistic
which should favor people who never used digital cameras before.
Unfortunately, the screen size fails to make a huge impression with it
just measuring 2.5 inches.
Most compact ditigal cameras start at 2.7
inches, but the anti-reflective coating
makes it visible even in direct sunlight.
Nikon Coolpix S225 Camera Features
The Nikon
Coolpix S225 comes with the standard 3x zoom
and the results are fairly good when using it for outdoor
shooting.
Its main source of power is the EXPEED Image
Processor which can be found in many of the midrange
and high-end models.
It's
capable of achieving
great sharpness and color effects for high-quality
pictures overall.
It is tweaked to blend in well with the COOLPIX
series ensuring that shots are speedy so that moments aren't missed.
It also has some decent image stabilization
features that improve the overall look of the photo in 4 ways.
First the Electronic VR Image Stabilization
automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed based on the
amount of camera shake to still achieve clear and sharp results
regardless of conditions.
If motion is the main cause of the blur, the Motion
Detection kicks in by calculating the same parameters.
Low light situations are solved with the High ISO 2000
setting and the Nikon exclusive Best Shot Selector
obtains the sharpest photo possible by taking up to 10 shots
continuously after the shutter is pressed once and then choosing from
there which photo is sharp.
Nikon Coolpix S225 Extra Features
The Smart Portrait System is another set
of technologies that benefit portrait shooters. The Face-Priority
AF is well supported detecting up to 12 faces in a group
shot and the Smile Mode captures the right moment.
The In-Camera Red-Eye Fix solves the
common instance of red eye photos after the shot is taken and the D-lighting
does the rest by balancing the brightness and shadow levels based on
the picture.

Unlike other cameras, the scene doesn't have to be manually set from a
group of scenes because the Scene Auto Selector
often does it accurately.
The Nikon Coolpix S225 isn't really the most stylish camera around. But
it makes up for that with its features, price and quality.
With its small format it is well-rounded enough for shooting all types
of scenes.
