Olympus
E620 Review
The Olympus
E620 is a mid-range digital SLR camera at reasonably low cost. Find out
if this is the camera you are looking for with use of the Olympus E620
review below.
Professionals prefer digital cameras with the best quality possible.
Their only choices were the DSLR cameras which is why the
market for
high-end digital SLR cameras is so competitive.
However, the mainstream
popularity of these cameras grew as they gained exposure in the market
shelves.
This has led manufacturers to make low-cost versions with
stripped down features, lighter bodies, but better image quality than
the popular compacts.
Olympus joined the competition
way back when it introduced the E-300,
E-400, and E-500 series.
Now they are planning to go a bit advanced in the midrange category
with the Olympus
E620 which tries
to be a low-cost midrange DSLR camera.
Highlights
The Olympus E620 is a camera that is primarily designed for creative
photographers that plan on taking beautiful shots, add special editing
effects, and print them afterwards without any degrading in image
quality.
The inclusion of six art filters
backs up this fact and is one of the most unique features found in a
camera.
The Pop Art mode is a favorite which
over-saturates the colors making them more vivid and brighter while the
Soft Focus adds a fantasy touch to the photo.
The other modes also
adjust the colors to suit different creative tastes and moods.
The multiple exposure shooting adds to
the creative depth allowing two shots to be made on the same frame.
Up
to 3 images can be shot as separate
scenes and then later combined making superimposes possible.
Olympus makes sure these creative pieces are presented properly by
offering all kinds of sizes thanks to multi-aspect ratio shooting.
Four aspect ratios can be applied to a single image so
they look good in the standard print sizes such as 8" x
10", 4" x 6", and even
widescreen aspect ratios so that they look just as good on widescreen
TVs.
To ensure that these images have the best quality possible, the Olympus
E620 uses the TruePic
III image processing engine for sharp detail and
accurate colors that can even amaze professional photographers.
The 12.3
megapixel specification allows all kinds of sizes to be taken in good
quality. Thanks to the three modes of In-body Image
Stabilization, any lens with the Four
Thirds logo can be used without any loss in quality even
in low light scenarios.
Other Features
A "Live View" mode is also included and
packed with some nifty features like the face detection which is
already common in most cameras, but it takes the step a bit further by
reducing the chances of blurring in addition to achieving accurate tone
colors.
The 2.7-inch LCD screen also
swivels and has a wide viewing angle for the "Live View" to work even
better.
It also has the Shadow Adjustment Technology
which basically increases detail by adjusting the exposure of shadows
without affecting the detail found in lighter areas.
There is a dust
reduction technology to ensure photos look good in the long run as
well.
The Olympus E620 is powerful, affordable, and feature-rich in the
creative side which is enough to compensate its poor battery life and
interface.
Those that want the more expensive E-30
in a more approachable package should definitely get this unit.
