Stylus MJU 9000 Review
The Olympus Stylus MJU 9000 is a camera that
definitely has got the
looks of a world-class camera. But does it provide the goods? Check out
this review to find out more about this Olympus digital camera.
The 12 megapixel Olympus
Stylus MJU 9000 comes in a champagne color or black. With
chrome
and silver accents, the black model is a sleek
and classy camera.
When compared to other Olympus cameras this is one that certainly has
taken over the looks department. Backlit
buttons round out the style.
Olympus Stylus MJU 9000 Camera Design
Although this is the smallest camera
worldwide with
an optical zoom of 10x, do not let the size
fool you into thinking it is lightweight.
The camera weighs 185 grams due to the optical zoom. The front of the
Mju 9000 is mostly the flash and the lens
with the brand displayed.
The rear of the camera is where the backlit buttons are to the side of
the screen, which is a 2.7-inch LCD. There is a dial that allows the selection
of modes.
They include several from which to choose including the playback,
program, intelligent
auto, movie, beauty
and scene mode. The overall feel of the
camera is good since the weight seems to be distributed equally.
Olympus Stylus MJU 9000 Camera Features
When it
Comes to UseThe
10x zoom is actually one of the more impressive aspects of the Mju
9000. It is very responsive and easy to return.
The lens does not extend excessively and the widest part is great at
28mm. Although the camera has image stabilization,
if your hand is not totally steady it does generate shots that are
blurred.
Another disappointment was the zoom does not work when the camera is in
movie mode. There are only two low resolutions for the video - VGA
and QVGA.
The memory card format is the
same as other Olympus cameras and not that impressive. The beauty mode
is one of the choices for the Olympus
Stylus 9000; however this camera has no HDMI output making
the feature of no benefit.
Olympus Stylus MJU 9000 Extra Features
The Mju 7000 has the HDMI output for this
feature so if that is important, this would be the one to purchase.
The
images are actually better than other Olympus cameras mainly because of
the lens.
However, the indoor pictures were not of as good a quality as the
outdoor shots. The noise on ISO levels,
except for the 100 tended to show as speckles on the image being
photographed.
The outdoor photos did not have as many when taken in the direct
sunlight. But the indoor photos on the camera looked as if there were
reflections of a light source.
They did not show up when transferring the pictures to a computer. The
aspect of the camera that was most impressive was the size.
When it comes to the Olympus brand, the Mju 9000 was one of the best
available.
The camera is not waterproof and if that
is not desired, this is not a problem. When looking at the Mju 9000 it
appears to be one of the nicest made by Olympus - it is certainly quite
a looker.
The camera is somewhat pricey when taking into consideration
some of the less than desirable aspects. It could have had a few more
features for the price.
