Samsung Digimax NV40 Review

The Samsung Digimax NV40 is a 'point-and-shoot'-camera that offers image quality but also provides some consideration to style and portability. Check out this Samsung Digimax digital camera review for more information.

Samsung has been bringing lots of new technologies to their mobile phones and recent Digimax digital cameras.

Some innovative camera features are already showing up in their mobiles, but that won't stop them from producing good models for the point-and-shoot fanatics that demand for higher quality without the need to upgrade to any of the expensive DSLR models.

The Samsung Digimax NV40 is set to do that by focusing entirely on image quality as well as giving some consideration to style and portability.

Samsung Digimax NV40 Camera Design

Samsung NV40 The Samsung Digimax NV40 is a lot smaller than many of the traditional digital cameras and is light to carry around.

The most striking point regarding the design is its durability as all of internal components are housed in a full aluminum metal body.

The finish adds style and flair to the entire device and also doubles as a layer of resistance to harmful infrared and ultraviolet rays.

It corrosion-resistant, shock proof, and scratch resistant to make this an ideal travel unit and a good camera to show off in other occasions.

Although there are no colored frames aside from the black and silver, the Blue Ring around the lens is stylish and NV exclusive and the frontal design makes it very easy to get a secure grip.

Samsung Digimax NV40 Camera Features

Samsung NV40 The Samsung NV40 uses a powerful and robust processor that ensures rich gradation and high quality pictures to be processed quickly right after a shot is taken.

It uses a ½.33" CCD sensor to take up to 10.5 megapixel photos which is enough to get clear images exceeding A2 sizes.

The Schneider Lens amplifies this processor by preserving the quality even if it is zoomed 3x as chromatic aberration and distortion are prevented.

It also combines the Optical Image Stabilization method to eliminate hand-shake problems with the Digital Image Stabilization to automatically adjust the photo based on the current lighting conditions.

Face Detection technology is implemented in the camera allowing up to 9 faces to be framed for focus and brightness adjustments. It isn't as advanced as the some of the competing models, but exposure correction is made possible even in backlight.

Manual sensitivity can be adjusted for better shots with the ISO 3200 being available for 3 megapixel shots and ISO 80 to 1600 being available to the rest of the settings for nice sharp photos.

With Auto Exposure Bracketing, darkness and brightness settings are adjusted basted on the exposure range. Advanced users can make sure of the 5-level contrast, sharpness, and saturation settings to match the best environment while beginners can rely on the scene selection where every function in the camera is described.

Samsung Digimax NV40 Extra Features

Samsung NV40 One unique feature of the Samsung Digimax NV40 is the ease of taking self-portrait shots by letting out sound signals to notify users where the faces are located.

Three faces can be detected which is enough for nice self-portraits.

Slide shows can be made out of any of the stored images using any of the 5 themes included and 3 background music that can be played while the slideshow runs on the camera or TV.

Other nice features include the Auto Macro ability to take beautiful close up shots and Color Effect function to apply various filters for expression. With all of these features in a stylish camera, the Samsung NV40 stands out from the rest.

The smart tough menu system adds a whole new level to using the device, but it can take time to get used to. Other than that, the Digimax NV40 is a winner.
